MEET THE CHAIR

MIA DONATUCCI

What’s up Delegates?

I’m Mia Donatucci and thrilled to be your chair for UNPFII this BruinMUN! As a second-year pursuing a Global Studies major, I am deeply interested in the multifaceted aspects of our international community, specifically in educational rights for marginalized regions. Beyond MUN, I love watching sci-fi movies, reading romance novels, bingeing anime, listening to musical theatre, and going on food crawls. Additionally, I’m obsessed with rock climbing and aesthetic Pinterest fashion boards!

Being from Lakewood, California, I had the opportunity to compete in MUN conferences on the SoCal circuit. Starting from sophomore year, I have maintained my status as a GA delegate, but do respect the creative processes of Crisis committees. Because of this program, I have created strong bonds with my fellow club members, making some of my bestest friends. But MUN also gives me the opportunity to stay informed about pressing issues facing our world. During my time debating for the Conference of the Parties (COP) as a delegate at NHSMUN, I explored the nuanced solutions regarding sustainable development and climate resilience. This especially gave me the chance to become well versed in the treatment of Indigenous peoples and their autonomy pertaining to environmental protection.

With that said, the UNPFII is a prominent advisory body under the Economic and Social Council tasked with tackling Indigenous related issues. This can range from socioeconomic development all the way to cultural preservation. While I am looking for fun and creative debate, I hope you all keep in mind the importance of respecting the complex nature of topics we will discuss. Take time to research your country’s position on this matter and develop unique solutions that can leave an impact in committee. Extremely hyped to meet you all soon and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

See you soon,

Mia Donatucci | Chair, UNPFII | BruinMUN 34
