BruinMUN 33 Secretariat
Sophie Kogan
Secretary-General
Sophie Kogan is a fourth-year at UCLA, majoring in Applied Mathematics with a Specialization in Computing and taking what she calls an "unofficial chem minor". She is also doing research in a quantum computing lab. Sophie previously served as the Under-Secretary General of Crisis for BruinMUN and LAMUN and has ran crisis committees for both. While she began as a GA delegate in high school, she saw the light and converted to a follower of crisis after joining MUN at UCLA her freshman year. Beyond her academic pursuits, she recently got into golf, runs a fire foodie spam with her roomates, and in her downtime, curating her Beli, scouring ThredUp, and rewatching classic sitcoms. From time to time, she's been known to yap about her lore too much.
Josephine Gore
Director-General
Josephine is a second-year student double majoring in Global Studies and Political Science with a minor in European Languages and Transcultural Studies. She is from Long Beach, California, and in her sixth year in MUN, she is excited to serve as the Director General for the UCLA high school and college conferences. Josephine has served as a staffer for BruinMUN and LAMUN, and competes on the travel team. She is also a violist in the UCLA Symphony. You can find her in the music rooms practicing piano, playing volleyball and card games, or searching for new cafes and study spots. After college, Josephine plans to attend graduate school and pursue a career in diplomacy, with a potential focus on refugees and forced migration.
Mayukha Talinki
Under-Secretary General for General Assemblies
Mayukha is a sophomore majoring in Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology and minoring in Environmental Systems & Society. She was born and brought up in Woodland Hills, CA and loves everything Los Angeles has to offer (the food basically). This is her 8th year in Model United Nations, and she looks forward to creating many more unforgettable memories and gaining new experiences along the way. She has previously staffed both BruinMUN and LAMUN, and is an avid competitor on the collegiate circuit, where she enjoys meeting new people and exploring different cities. Apart from Model UN, she’s involved in research and a variety of global health and medical clubs. In her free time, you can find her reading any book with a good plot twist, going on spontaneous trips to the beach, and trying new recipes inspired by the Great British Baking Show. As USG, she’s excited to support the conference, ensuring delegates have a rewarding experience in diplomacy and public speaking.
Charlotte Tse
Under-Secretary General for ECOSPEC
Charlotte is a second year Molecular, Cell and Developmental Major on the pre-med track with aspirations to become a surgeon or enter the healthcare business sector. She is originally from San Mateo, California but has also lived in Beijing and Hong Kong, China. This is her second year at MUN at UCLA but she also competed in high school. Outside of MUN, you can find her in a research lab or on the course as a member of UCLA Club Golf and Badminton. She loves trying out new food spots, traveling around the world, going to the beach, thrifting or binging a new show.
Asher Rao
Under-Secretary General for Novice
Asher is a second-year student double majoring in World Arts and Cultures and Political Science from San Francisco (yes the actual city and not just “the bay” for all the skeptics out there). As a lover of languages, international relations, and civil rights advocacy, he aspires to work on a global stage (hence MUN) to create a more fair and equitable world for all – or maybe he will just go to law school for business, who knows! This is Asher’s 5th year of Model United Nations, during which he has competed nationally at Stanford, Georgetown, Harvard, UC Berkeley, and more during his time on the high school and college circuit. He is looking forward to visiting more cities for new conferences and adding to his wall back home all of his signed placards and name tags. At UCLA, Asher has served as a dias staffer for BruinMUN and crisis staffer for LAMUN and is excited to serve in this new role of Bruin MUN 33 USG of Novice! When he is not brainstorming mod hooks or cramming for an exam, he is involved in UCLA’s Indian Student Union, Root[d Dance Company (follow our insta @rooted.dance.ucla), and Bearing Witness. On the off chance you could catch him at the gym or even reading a book, but the best place to find him is at the dining hall where he swears the best of friends and memories are made.
Haktan Keskin
Under-Secretary General for Crisis
Haktan is a second-year Biology and Political Sciences double major hailing from Istanbul, Türkiye. He is on the pre-med track aspiring to become a surgeon one day, though he is uncertain which body part to cut yet. He has been involved in Model United Nations since his freshman year of high school. He served as a crisis staffer for BruinMUN and LAMUN last year. Apart from staffing, he has also been traveling to compete at various conferences, namely SBIMUN and UCBMUN, and explore the US along the way.Outside of MUN, he is involved in other campus organizations such as the American Medical Students Association in which he serves as the Health Advocacy Intern. In his free time, Haktan indulges in the latest dinosaur news, discovers new sitcoms (although he will argue that Parks and Recreation is the best one to ever exist), and doomscrolls on Twitter for hours on end.
Anton Stover
President
Anton is a fourth-year History major with minors in Global Studies, American Indian Studies, and Public Affairs from Redondo Beach, California. This is his seventh year in Model UN, having joined in his sophomore year of high school. He previously served as the Director of External Relations and the Undersecretary-General for ECOSPEC the year prior. After he finally ends his time in Model UN, he plans to go to law school and be involved in constitutional law. Outside of participating in, competing in, and talking about Model UN, he writes for the Undergraduate Law Journal, plays many card games, and watches motorsport.
Samantha Lyle
Director of Finance
Samantha is a third-year Political Science and Geography and Environmental Studies double major. While she cherishes her time in LA, her favorite city is her hometown, Las Vegas. She joined MUN during her 1st year of college after debating for 7 years on the local and national circuit. During her time with MUN at UCLA, she has chaired General Assembly and Crisis committees at BruinMUN and LAMUN, and has actively participated in conferences as a member of the travel team. Beyond MUN, Sam is a member of UCLA’s rock climbing team, and she loves listening to live music, taking her Labrador Lily on car rides, and going to the beach. After graduating, Sam hopes to be a policy analyst or go into environmental law.
Khushi Sharma
Director of External Relations
Khushi is a sophomore at UCLA and is a Physiological Science major with a minor in Global Health. This will be her 8th year in MUN, after competing on the SoCal circuit and joining MUN at UCLA her freshman year. Before becoming External Director, Khushi has staffed multiple committees such as BruinMUN’s UNPBC committee, and competes on the UCLA MUN travel team. Outside of MUN she volunteers as a part of Project Rishi at UCLA, plays Water Polo, and works as an EMT. In her free time Khushi enjoys overbuying at Barnes and Nobles, trying new coffee shops (Hojicha>Matcha), ranking Acai spots (she has strong opinions about the spots on campus), listening to music, and baking.
