At BruinMUN, we offer specialized committees to provide additional excitement for delegates. These committees will utilize the same committee rules and procedures as our traditional GA committees with the added dynamic element of crisis updates throughout the weekend. Delegates will work to draft resolutions for both topics (just like in traditional GA committees), incorporating solutions that also address the specific crises brought up in committee. No prior experience with crisis committees is expected, and delegates in specialized committees will not write crisis notes.

Yes. When completing our registration form, indicate that you are registering as an individual delegate and write “Individual Delegate” in the school field. Individual delegates will not be charged for the delegation fee (as they are ineligible for delegation awards) and will only be responsible for the individual delegate fee.

Yes, we are able to welcome groups of delegates that are not affiliated with a school. If a group of independent delegates, unaffiliated with a school, would like to attend BruinMUN and participate together, they must register as a unified delegation. If they do so in a group of fewer than six delegates, they will not be held responsible for a delegation fee. Only one form is required per group. In the “School Name” category, please include a group name (typically a name of a high school or parent/guardian leader) to help us identify your group. Delegates that register as an “Individual Delegate” will not be able to request partnering with other delegates.

International delegates are welcome to attend, either as individual delegates or as a school. While we encourage participating online, given the uncertainty around public health requirements, delegates are able to register for our committees exactly the same as U.S. delegations. If your delegation is in need of visa letters, please contact external@bruinmun.org.

BruinMUN 31 will be following all COVID-19 policies in place at UCLA, as our conference takes place on campus. Any substantial changes will be announced in advance of the conference on our website and via email. We thank you for your patience and flexibility.

For delegations that register before October 24th, committee allocations will be issued no more than 5 business days after receipt of payment/proof of payment or on October 24th, whatever occurs first. All allocations issued without proof of payment are considered tentative and may be canceled for failure to pay registration fees. We strongly advise submitting payment as soon as possible in order to expedite receipt of your allocations.

For delegations that register on or after October 24th, allocations will be sent out no more than 3 business days after submission of the registration form. Your allocations will be considered tentative until payment or proof of payment has been received by our Director of Finance.

We encourage all advisors to play an active role in preparing their delegates for BruinMUN. Advisors and head delegates can utilize online resources including www.bestdelegate.com to learn more about MUN rules and procedures, research, and how to prepare for conferences. Delegates wishing to be considered for research awards must submit their position papers by 11:59pm PDT on Friday, October 27th. To be eligible for committee awards, delegates must submit position papers by 11:59pm PDT on Friday, November 3rd. They can find the submission page here.

Novice General Assembly and specialized body committees are designed for delegates in their first year of Model United Nations. Novice crisis committees are designed for delegates in their first year, or those participating in their first crisis committees.
