The opening ceremony is special for many reasons. One of these reasons is that each person participating in BruinMUN 2015, i.e. advisors, delegates, and staff, are all present in the same room. This year drew the highest ever attendance at BruinMUN, approximately 1500 people, whereas last year only drew around 900. Schools from all over California, i.e. Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Francisco, were in attendance. BruinMUN 2015 also hosted two international schools from Canada and India. Model United Nations is gaining momentum.

Looking out into the audience, it was pleasing to see a crowd rich with diversity; there were people from all backgrounds and walks of life. We all came together to learn, discuss solutions, and sharpen our critical thinking skills. Our greatest hope is that, even after this event is over, we all continue to do this work.

In an era of a heavy political climate, here are some photos celebrating diversity at BruinMUN 2015.
