Letter from your Chair

Dear Delegates,

Welcome to the Novice World Health Organisation at BruinMUN 2019! My name is Andrea Grigsby and I am honored to serve as your chair during this conference. I look forward to meeting you all, and hearing you debate some intriguing and impactful topics.

To briefly introduce myself, I’ve lived my whole life in Taipei, Taiwan, where I attended a British International school. It was there that my love for MUN began, and I had the chance to participate in several THIMUN conferences around Asia. Now, I am a third-year pursuing a double major in Neuroscience and Philosophy - all things to do with the mind. So far, my participation of MUN at UCLA has included the staffing of 4 conferences: LAMUN 2018, 2019, BruinMUN 2017 and 2018, where I was the chair of SOCHUM. It was all a hoot, and I wish to only increase this number over the next couple of years.

I am thrilled to be chairing this committee and am eager to see the debate that is in store. MUN has undoubtedly shaped me into the person I am today - not only have I been able to gain confidence and hone my public speaking skills, I have become more aware of the issues that plague the world in which we live. I sincerely hope you are able to gain the same out of this conference, and enjoy the committee as much as I did setting it up! I am especially excited for this committee as we will be discussing topics that are more relevant to the current global situation than ever. The well being of the earth’s population rests in your hands, and your actions will significantly affect our future as a species. Proceed cautiously.

If you have any questions regarding the committee, the conference or UCLA in general, please do not hesitate to contact me. Good luck for your preparations and research; I look forward to meeting you all soon!
