Letter from your Chair

Dear Delegates,

My name is Anisha Pachisia and I will be serving as your chair for Economical and Financial Affairs Council (ECOFIN). I am a sophomore here at UCLA majoring in Economics and Maths and hoping to pursue a career in investment banking or consulting.

My MUN journey started Junior year of high school in Abu Dhabi, UAE where I randomly decided to go for the club meeting and surprisingly enjoyed myself. I luckily got to travel with my school team and got to try out different committees, with my journey starting from ECOFIN to UNHRC to Security Council. I joined MUN@UCLA during my freshman year and I am excited to explore more with our team. The thought of having an impact on the world to bring about positive change is incredible and I hope MUN has a positive impact on you in one way or another.

ECOFIN is made up of economics and finance ministers from all member states, and relevant European Commissioners also participate in these meetings. We are responsible for economic policy, taxation matters, financial markets and capital movements, and economic relations so please bear this mind when tackling both the topics set for committee. You have the chance to approach topics that still do not have a tangible solution as global regulations are difficult to put into place. As members of this committee, it is your duty to ensure that resolutions passed are done through collaborative efforts as these issues concern the global economy.

“With great power comes great responsibility” - Stan Lee

Use your power for good.

Welcome to ECOFIN.
