LAMUN 2019 has been gavelled out of session!
We look forward to welcoming you to Los Angeles next year for LAMUN 2020. For a sneak peek of what that experience may look like, please browse the information below, from Sec-Gen Olivia Draper’s welcome letter to LAMUN 2019. Dear Delegates, Advisors, and Friends,
On behalf of the Los Angeles Model United Nations Secretariat and MUN at UCLA, I would like to welcome you to the fourteenth session of LAMUN. LAMUN XIV will take place April 4-7, 2019 at the Universal Studios Hilton in Universal City, Hollywood and will feature 8 crisis committees, 3 specialized bodies and 2 general assemblies.
Over the course of 4 days, delegates will have the opportunity to bring the Medellín cartel -- one of the deadliest drug cartels in history -- to justice, travel back in time to the height of imperial art and architecture of the Egyptian Empire, and debate the diversification of island business activities in the Alliance of Small Island States. LAMUN XIV will also feature classic committees such as the UN Security Council, as well as the Ad-Hoc Committee of the Secretary General.
Our conference would not be complete without the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and the UN Commission on the Status of Women, which will explore several social, humanitarian, as well as environmental crises. For the first time at LAMUN, we will present the International Press Corps, a specialized body in which delegates will work to provide coverage of the weekend’s events.
Since its conception, LAMUN has operated on the principle of providing a dynamic, immersive experience to its delegates – a tradition which LAMUN XIV will carry forward with its unique mix of committees. The LAMUN experience, however, goes beyond our committees: our location in the heart of the entertainment capital of the world promises several exciting social opportunities. From tours of Universal Studios and other entertainment landmarks to a relaxing post-conference afternoon at one of LA’s several beautiful beaches, we are confident that LAMUN XIV will be a memorable weekend.
Our conference rates are $95 per school and start at $85 per delegate. We understand the importance of providing a financially accessible conference, however, and would like to draw your attention to a discount we will continue to offer this year:
Delegations with 16-23 delegates will receive a 50% rebate on the delegate fees of 2 additional delegates
Delegations with 24 or more delegates will receive a 100% rebate on the delegate fees of 2 additional delegates
Priority registration for our conference will begin December 1, 2018, and will run through February 1st, 2019. During this time, delegate fees will be $85. You may register online at www.bruinmun.org.
This year, we will be partnering once again with the Universal Studios Hilton in Universal City. We are pleased to offer an exclusive discount rate of $219.00 USD/night for 2 double beds or 1 king bed, excluding taxes. The last day for reservations to be made with the group rate is Wednesday, March 13, 2019.
