Aditya Deshpande, President
Aditya Deshpande is a fourth-year Business Economics and Financial Math double major from Mumbai, India. He has been involved in Model UN since high school and is looking forward to an exciting senior year with MUN at UCLA. Having interned in asset management and investment banking in the past, Aditya hopes to work in finance once he graduates. Outside of MUN Aditya is a member of Bruin Asset Management, and when free can be found binge-watching Netflix, rooting for the LA Lakers, or playing basketball.
Alex Guziak, BruinMUN Secretary General
Alex is a third year physics major and bioinformatics minor at UCLA, originally hailing from the northern suburbs of Chicago. Having previously served as a USG for BruinMUN, he is excited to expand and develop the conference this year as the Secretary General. An avid reader, Alex is most easily found at the science and engineering library at UCLA. His favorite activities include binge watching his favorite shows on Netflix, playing chess, and worrying about his ever-declining GPA while simultaneously doing little about it.
Ravid Reif, LAMUN Secretary General
Ravid Reif is a fourth year pursuing a double major in Political Science and Global Studies and a minor in French. She is originally from Israel, but currently lives in San Ramon, California. Ravid has been participating in Model UN since her freshman year of high school, and she is particularly excited to be organizing LAMUN this year. Outside of MUN, Ravid works at the Undergraduate Writing Center and has held various internships related to international relations. In the future, she hopes to go to law school and pursue a career in international relations by either working for the United Nations or an international non-governmental organization. She loves traveling to new places, reading her favorite books, and cooking new recipes.
Kali Croke, Chief of Staff
As a third year International Development Studies major and Latin American Studies minor, Kali Croke is no stranger to all things MUN. Hailing from the quaint northern suburbs of Chicago, Kali has been participating in Model UN since the wee age of 14. Now pushing 21, she is beyond excited to serve as this year's Chief of Staff, where she promises to relay her passion to members every week. In her free time she enjoys eating, a healthy dose of sarcasm, good adventure, and meeting new people.
Rishi Bhargava, Director of Travel Team
Born and raised in Bombay, Rishi came to UCLA to pursue Computer Science and Statistics. Now a senior, he serves on the Board of Upsilon Pi Epsilon (The Computer Science Honor Society), plays Squash for UCLA's club team and spends hours in various rooms in Boelter Hall finding quiet places to code. Most of Rishi's remaining time is spent with Model UN at UCLA. In the last 3 years Rishi has represented the club at almost every conference possible. With several years of MUN experience under his belt, Rishi serves as Head Delegate for UCLA's Travel Team for the second year in a row. Rishi loves traveling and is known to take spur of the moment trips on the weekends he is not competing for UCLA Model UN or Squash. When he is not coding, debating policy or in another city, Rishi can be found napping on a hammock near Jann Steps.
Ryan Lan Carr, Director of Finance
Ryan is a fourth-year Business Economics major from his beloved hometown of Fountain Valley, CA. Heading into his sixth year in Model UN, he is excited to serve as Director of Finance for our club at UCLA. With an avid love for business and negotiation, as well as previous experience working in finance, Ryan plans to pursue a career in investment banking upon graduation. At UCLA, besides being the finance director for Model UN, Ryan is the Vice President of Bruin Venture Capital, a competitor on the club golf team, and a project manager in Ackerman Union. Outside of school, he enjoys cycling, golfing, and traveling to new places.
Shankar Chelliah, Director of Training
Born in Boston, Shankar was raised in the Bay Area and Bangalore, India, before coming to UCLA to pursue his bachelors. He has been involved in MUN since high school, having staffed and attended numerous conferences across the globe, and looks forward to serving on the board for this year. As a fourth-year Economics major with a minor in Global Studies, Shankar has interned in investment banking, venture capitalism, and management consulting before, and hopes to break into investment banking upon graduation. Outside Model UN at UCLA, he is a member of Bruin Value Investing, and loves basketball, chess, and taking naps.
Soumyadeep Chatterjee, Director of Internal Relations
Born in New Delhi, Soumyadeep spent the bulk of his childhood in Muscat, Oman before coming to UCLA to study Electrical Engineering. He takes great interest in exploring the cultures of the world; to that end, he has visited over 30 countries and is fluent in 7 languages. Model UN gradually grew to be his passion, and he looks forward to a great year ahead. Other than Model UN, He is an active member of Triangle Fraternity, and is a member of IEEE at UCLA. When not under heaps of coursework, he can be found enjoying a round of golf, playing his guitar, or supporting his beloved Chelsea F.C.
Axel Sarkissian, Director of External Relations
Axel Sarkissian is a third-year undergraduate studying Political Science with minors in Public Affairs and Urban & Regional Planning. He is a Los Angeles native who has been a part of Model UN at UCLA since his freshman year, competing regularly on its intercollegiate team. Outside of Model UN, Axel serves on the executive board of UCLA’s Pre-Law Society, has held internships in government, and preserves a keen interest in transportation and defense policy. He plans to attend law school upon graduation.
Xinrui Xue, Director of Marketing
Xinrui Xue is a fourth year Economics and International Development Studies double major with a minor in Accounting from Palos Verdes, CA. Since joining Model UN in high school, she has competed in and staffed over 35 conferences and taught MUN to high school students all over North America. She is incredibly excited to serve as Director of Publications and has high hopes for the International Press for the 2016-17 academic year. Outside of MUN, Xinrui is the Chief of Finance of UCLA's Student Wellness Commission and an intern at LACMA. In her spare time, you can find her exploring LA with her DSLR or making new Spotify playlists.
Linnea Shapter, Director of Logistics
Hailing from Annapolis, Maryland, Linnea Shapter is a fourth-year history major with minors in geography and English. Highlights of her undergraduate years include interning for the International Liquid Terminals Association in Arlington, Virginia and completing a travel study program in Rome where her passion for history only further grew. She joined Model United Nations her freshman year of college and has loved the past three years of learning and evolving with the club. At UCLA outside of MUN, Linnea has been involved in Cru and is a new member of the Mortar Board National College Senior Honor Society. After UCLA, she hopes to attend law school, become an attorney, and ultimately pursue her dream of becoming a judge. In her spare time, Linnea enjoys running, reading, writing, and spending time with her family and friends.
Madelyn Chen, Director of Publications
Raised in the humble town of San Francisco, California, Madelyn Chen has always aspired to be a writer in Hollywood. Upon moving to La La Land to major in English and minor in Film and Entrepreneurship at UCLA—or in her mother’s words, to become an unemployed waitress—she decided to branch out from debate and try Model UN. Since discovering the MUNderful joys of making country puns and beheading delegates, Madelyn is Syria-sly excited about serving as Director of Publications and covering internationally pressing issues. When not debating in MUN, Madelyn is debating for the UCLA Debate Union or trying to expand her comfort zone.
Anant Mahajan, Director of Technology
Born in Kolkata, India and raised in Dubai, Anant has seen his fair share of the world before coming to UCLA for his undergraduate education. As a fourth year Computer Science major, Anant can often be found coding away new apps in his free time. Anant has been involved in MUN since his sophomore year in high school and has since then participated and staffed multiple conferences across the globe. Anant plans to pursue IP law in the future.
