Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, 1953

Welcome to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union!  This committee will take place during the 19th Central Committee, starting on March 14, 1953 with its third plenary session. Despite being more of a symbolic leadership council under Stalin’s rule, his passing would push the committee into the limelight and require it to establish new leadership as well as deal with the plethora of issues Stalin left behind in the Soviet Union. In this crisis-update heavy specialized body, delegates will have to tackle issues including famine, lack of arts and culture, and tensions with foreign governments during the Cold War period- all while trying to deal with the lack of a centralized leader following the death of Joseph Stalin.

Co-Chairs: Aileen Nguyen and Joel Szakmeister
