Letter from the Chair

Arab League الجامعة العربية‎

Welcome to the Arab League at UCLA BruinMUN 2018. My name is Denver Quadros and I am delighted to serve as your chair during this conference. I am currently a senior at UCLA studying Applied Mathematics. I grew up in cosmopolitan Arab city of Dubai and began participating in Model UN since my freshmen year of high school.

The Arab World is fast growing, culturally rich group of young nations that strive to to promote the interest and sovereignty of it’s member nations. The growth of militarization and sectarian divide have resulted in civil wars for some member states of the Arab and have diminished the progress of these states and thus halted the progress of the Arab Nations. The two issues we will discuss at this conference will be “Creating a Future of Arab Youth” and “Situation of Arab Refugees and Displaced People”. Unemployment rates in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) was the highest in the world in 2016 and coupled with the civil wars in major Arab nations, it has crippled the Arab economy and society. I believe that societal and economic issues in the Middle East can serve as catalyst for tackling this issue and I encourage you all the be creative with your resolutions and I am confident that we will take a giant step towards the progress of our Arab World.

If you have any questions regarding the committee, the conference or anything else, please do send me an email.

I wish you all a great BruinMUN 2018 and I look forward to working with you over the conference.

Good Luck,
Denver Quadros | Chair
