Welcome to G20 at BruinMUN 2017! I am incredibly excited to be your chair for this conference--it will be my 6th and last (and hopefully best) BruinMUN!
First, a little about myself. My name is Xinrui Xue (pronounced sin-ree), and I am an Economics and International Development Studies double major in my fourth year at UCLA. I will also be the Director of Marketing for MUN at UCLA this year. Model United Nations has been a part of my life since freshman year of high school, when I started competing on the Southern California circuit. Since then, I have attended nearly 40 conferences, taught MUN throughout the country, and worked for Best Delegate. Model UN has taught me everything from public speaking to diplomacy, and its impact is something that has shaped my passions and character. Aside from MUN, I love visiting art museums, curating Spotify playlists, and perfecting my aesthetic.
The Group of 20, or G20, is a committee that I have always wanted to chair. This gathering of the twenty major economies of the world creates the perfect set-up for debate on the most pressing topics today. Our two agenda topics, the Fourth Industrial Revolution and re-evaluating the role of global financial institutions, are compelling and relevant issues that I look forward to hearing debate on. I hope each delegate considers the powerful influence of the G20 and how it can create solutions that help the global community, especially developing nations. In all, I can’t wait to meet all of you and have an thrilling weekend of diplomacy and solutions!
